light murmurs through her lips
into her mouth like wind
sets her throat to sail
she makes of her voice
a vessel
invites us in
asks us where the ocean
and our even deeper dreams
would take us

Imagine Peace

Happy Peace Day

IMAGINE PEACE by yoko ono
for Peace Day: 21 September 2010

You may think: “Well, how are we going to get one billion people in the world to Think PEACE?”

Because if one billion people in the world Think PEACE, we will get PEACE.
Remember, each one of us has the power to change the world.

Power works in mysterious ways
You don’t have to do much
Visualise the domino effect and just start thinking PEACE.
The message will circulate faster than you think.

It’s Time For Action.
The Action is PEACE.
Spread the word.
Spread PEACE.

As my husband and partner, John Lennon said:
“Imagine all the people living life in peace.”

I love you.

Noam Gagnon

by Katyslany

I believe in beauty. And beauty doesn’t have to mean perfection.  We are beautiful when we are tired – it’s when our barriers are down that we are beautiful.  These may be things we think others will hate. It’s just our essence then, and I love that. It takes a lot of courage to be in those places.  And I think people can find themselves in the story, and that is beautiful, too.

you being in love | e.e. cummings

by Katyslany

you being in love

will tell who softly asks in love,

am i separated from your body smile brain hands merely
to become the jumping puppets of a dream? oh i mean:
entirely having in my careful how
careful arms created this at length
inexcusable, this inexplicable pleasure-you go from several
persons: believe me that strangers arrive
when i have kissed you into a memory
slowly, oh seriously
-that since and if you disappear

ask “life, the question how do i drink dream smile

and how do i prefer this face to another and
why do i weep eat sleep-what does the whole intend”
they wonder. oh and they cry “to be, being, that i am alive
this absurd fraction in its lowest terms
with everything cancelled
but shadows
-what does it all come down to? love? Love
if you like and i like, for the reason that i
hate people and lean out of this window is love, love
and the reason that i laugh and breathe is oh love and the reason
that i do not fall into this street is love.”

I will sing you as no one ever has…

by Emma

I believe in all that has never yet been spoken.
I want to free what waits within me
so that what no one has dared to wish for

may for once spring clear
without my contriving.

If this is arrogant, God, forgive me,
but this is what I need to say.
May what I do flow from me like a river,
no forcing and no holding back,
the way it is with children.

Then in these swelling and ebbing currents,
these deepening tides moving out, returning,
I will sing you as no one ever has,

streaming through widening channels
into the open sea.

I Used to be Snow White… But I Drifted

by Emma

I’ll be performing in a somatic dance piece called “I Used to be Snow White…But I Drifted” at  SOMAFest in L.A.
on Oct 1st and 2nd, 8pm
at the 18th Street Arts Complex, 1629 18th Street, Santa Monica, CA 90404

SOMAFest (Somatic Arts Movement Festival) is a world-class festival of classes and performances fostering Conscious Embodiment in Practice, Performance and Daily Life.

‘Soma’ refers to the body experience from within. (yummmmmm!)

How do we creatively sustain embodied interaction with our surroundings while connecting
with our internal kinesthetic experience?  In its fourth year, this pioneering event enhances
somatic awareness in practice, performance and daily life.  Fostering physical and perceptual
transformation, individuals from all walks of life learn to bring themselves more fully to every
experience, enhancing art-making and the performance of life.  Our workshops help deepen
creativity, presence, holistic health, self discovery, internal spaciousness, sensory awareness,
liquid strength and refined physical articulation.  We’ll explore how somatic experiencing
awakens our inner world for a more profound connection with the performing environment and
the world at large.

“The human body has been spiraled from the vortical tendency of living water, an extension of the primordial ocean, appearing separate but maintaining constant resonance. We are in perpetual resonance with all fluid systems everywhere in the universe, functioning as an undivided whole. We discover ourselves as a continuum of a living process that began billions of years ago and extends to this day.”

– Emilie Conrad
